Most failures come down to five things

A code that does nothing at checkout is rarely a code that has simply died. Usually one of these is happening instead.

There was never a code to begin with

A large share of what gets advertised online as a coupon code is really a link-activated discount, where the reduction is already in the price and there is nothing to type anywhere. Every offer we list for UU Cosmetics works this way. If another site shows you a code for a store that does not issue codes, that code was invented, and no amount of retyping will make it work.

The promo box is not where you looked

Some stores put the discount field on the cart page, before you reach checkout. Others put it at the payment step. My Jelly Bags uses the cart page. A valid code entered on the wrong screen fails in exactly the same way an invalid one does, which is why this is worth ruling out first.

The item is already reduced

Sitewide codes very often exclude anything already discounted, and a section that is running its own sale is usually already discounted. If you are shopping a clearance page and a sitewide code will not apply, that is generally the reason rather than a fault. It is also worth checking which of the two saves you more, because it is rarely the code.

One code per order

Most checkouts accept a single discount per order. Applying a second silently replaces the first on some platforms and is rejected on others. If you have two codes, apply them one at a time and compare the subtotal rather than trying to stack them.

It expired, or it was never for your region

Codes tied to a currency or a shipping region will not apply outside them. My Jelly Bag, for example, prices in euros and ships from France. A code circulating from a different market can look perfectly valid and still do nothing on your basket.

A 30 second test before you blame the code

Check the subtotal actually changed, not just that the page said applied, because some checkouts show a confirmation while discounting nothing. Then look for a promo field on the cart page as well as at payment. Then remove any sale item from the basket and try the code again, which immediately tells you whether an exclusion is the cause. Finally, clear any other code first so you are only testing one at a time.

Why we say when there is no code

Listing a fake code costs a coupon site nothing and costs you a few minutes each time. We would rather tell you an offer is link-activated and have you trust the next thing we publish. Where a store genuinely has no code, we say so on the store page instead of inventing one to fill the space.

The store-by-store specifics

Each of the stores mentioned here works differently. Daisy Corsets has a sitewide code alongside automatic section sales. UU Cosmetics has no codes at all. My Jelly Bags has a code, but the box is on the cart page.

We have written up the details for each: what you cannot return from a Daisy Corsets sale, what wholesale beauty delivery times really mean, and how to judge a jelly bag before you pay.
